Richard (Dick) Peterson, age 91 of Mitchell, SD died Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral service will be 12 Noon Saturday, December 14, 2024_ at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at the Fedora Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM to 12 Noon Saturday, December 14, 2024.

Richard (Dick) Peterson, son of Emmit and Josie Severeid was born in South Dakota. Dick was united in marriage with Dorothy Ellison on December 28, 1958 in Pleasant Valley, SD. They made their home near Fedora, SD on the Peterson family farm where they farmed until his retirement.

From this union three children were born Barry, Jill and Robert. Dorothy died in 2006.

In 2012 Dick was united in marriage with his second wife, Janet Ramsell Henderson Peterson in Fedora, SD. The couple resided in Mitchell, SD. Janet passed away in 2014.

Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Barry (Debra) Peterson, Mt. Pleasant, SC, Jill (Jeff) Schaefer, Parker, SD, Robert (Vicki Vining) Fedora, SD; his grandchildren, Brian Cohl, Daniel Cohl, Brett and Allie Peterson, Katelyn (Ethan) Bird, Dustin Vining, Hillary Vining and Hanna Peterson; stepsons, Curt and Matt Ditmanson; six great grandchildren; a brother, John (Karen) Peterson; sister-in-law, Char (Ed) Peters; a brother-in-law, Larry Behan and a special friend Eldeen Stekel.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two wives, Dorothy and Janet; his brothers, Leonard and Robert; a sister, Phyllis and two infant sibling, Dean and Arva.
