William Bill Welch, age 82, of Mitchell, died Friday, June 8, 2007 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Memorial services will be 10:30 AM Friday, June 15, at Holy Family Catholic Church with burial at St. Scholastica Catholic Cemetery in Letcher with military rites. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Bill was born on April 7, 1925, at Omaha, Nebraska to Edward and Helen (May) Welch. After his mothers death, he moved to Letcher to live with the Roy Todd family. He grew up in the Letcher area and graduated from Letcher High School. He served in the US Army during WW II. After his discharge from the military, he attended Northern State University and graduated with a teachers degree. He taught in Letcher. He then moved to Los Angeles and worked for more than thirty years for the Judicial System and retired in 1989. Bill moved to Mitchell in 1990 and to Crystal Manor in 1995 where he lived until the time of his death. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He is survived by five nephews and many great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Edward.
