William H. North, age 69 of Letcher, SD died Thursday October 9, 2008 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be 2:00PM Wednesday at The Salvation Army with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Bill Willie North was born September 27, 1939 to Arthur and Mabel North in Alexandria, SD. He moved to Huron, SD as a young boy, and then he moved to Mitchell, SD and then to Plankinton, SD. Bill enjoyed raising and training horses a young man. He also worked for Elmer Olsen for several years as a young man. In 1965 he met Georgia Cunningham. He also worked for Georgias brother Dan as a garbage truck driver. Bill and Georgia were married on September 11, 1966. In February of 1967 Bill started working for the City of Mitchell Public Works Department. In 1967 Bill and Georgia welcome a new edition to their small family a son Timothy. 1972 they welcome another addition to their growing family a daughter Marie. Bill continued working for the City of Mitchell Public Works Department until 1994 when a stroke forced him to retire. He had completed 28 years with the city when he had to retire due to health issues. Bill enjoyed fishing and playing with his grandchildren.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Georgia North, Letcher, SD; two children, Envoy Timothy (Envoy Peggy) North, Boone, IA, Marie North (Randall Kurth), Letcher, SD; seven grandchildren, Ashton Van Pelt, Omaha, NE, Bradley North, Nathan North, Jacob North, and Jeannette North, all of Boone, IA, Erik Kurth and Bryanna Kurth, both of Wessington Springs, SD; a brother, Ted North, Kellogg, ID; eight sisters, Sarah Otto, Huron, SD, Lucy (Jack) North, Howard, SD, Geraldine Roth, South Sioux, NE, Bonnie Clark, Gettysburg, SD, Susan Christman, Idaho, Peggy North, Kellogg, ID, Delilah (Jerry) Boyd, Kellogg, ID, Maryalice Rose, San Bernardino, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tim North and an infant brother, Joey; and a sister, Margaret North.
