William (Bill) Anderson, 77, of Mitchell died Wednesday July 25th, 2018 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services are to be held Saturday, July 28th at 10:30 am at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Mitchell. Visitation will be held from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Friday, July 27th at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell.

Bill was born in Mitchell, South Dakota on September 5th, 1940 to Harold and Marian (Irwin) Anderson. Making his early life in Mitchell, he attended Mitchell High School and went on to marry Verna Hohn on October 14th, 1958. They began their life together in Mitchell; eventually welcoming three daughters on their adventures.

In their early years, he worked for National Food Stores, allowing them to make memories in various Midwest towns. In 1968 they purchased Blue Bell IGA grocery store here in Mitchell. Later on, they relocated to Springfield, MO where Bill sold American Republic Insurance. After life in Missouri, Bill & Verna moved back to Mitchell to run the first local self-serve gas station, U Pump It. They continued the station until 1991.

Following the self-employment journey, he enjoyed a slower-paced, but ever busy life, driving school bus for Crockett Incorporated and managing the Super Wash car wash here in Mitchell.

Through his life, Bill enjoyed remote control air planes, tinkering with computers, deer hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling, and going to the races. He loved spending time with his family especially when it involved sharing his hobbies and educating his grandchildren; having taught all four of them all of them to drive.

Grateful for sharing his life; are his wife of sixty years, Verna, his three daughters Janine (Greg) Patton, Vickie (Matt) Eliason, & Kathy (Joel) Goetsch. Grandchildren: Tyler Goetsch, Chelsea Anderson Patton, Shelby (Jared) Holmberg, and Mckenzie Patton. Two great grandchildren, William Goetsch and Gaige Holmberg.

He was proceeded in death by: his parents, one brother, Larry Anderson, two sisters, Darlene Koster and Delores Hoffman, two brother-in-laws, Leo Van Overschelde and David Hoffman.
