Obituary

Wilfred J. Schulte, 85, Mitchell, died Monday, May 10, 2004, at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM Thursday at Holy Family Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 5-8 PM Wednesday at Will Funeral Chapel with a scripture reading at 7 PM. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. He was born on December 9, 1918, at Emery, SD, to Henry B. and Mary (Loneman) Schulte. He attended St. Martins Catholic Boarding School in Emery through 8th grade. He entered the Air Force in 1941. He was an airplane mechanic at Shepherd Field, Texas, as a corporal. He married Estella Imming on November 22nd, 1943, in Carroll, Iowa. They farmed in the Emery area, retiring in 1968. They moved to Mitchell, and he worked for the City of Mitchell at the water treatment plant for 18 years. He also worked at Best Western Motel during this time until 1996, when he fully retired. He became a resident of Firesteel Healthcare Center in February, 1999. He was a member of Holy Family Church, Mitchell. Wilfred is survived by his children: Paul Schulte and wife, Lynne, Sun Prairie, WI; Marlou Mogck and husband, Gary, of Ethan; Joyce Olinger and husband, Doug, of Mitchell; Barb Shields and husband, Dave, of Gettysburg, SD; Dale Schulte and wife, Beth, of Rapid City; Brian Schulte and wife, Gay, of Mitchell; Roger Schulte, of Sioux Falls; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and a sister, Leona Jarding and husband, Louie, of Sioux Falls. He was preceded in death by a son, Eugene, on July 15, 1968. Estella died on March 24, 1986. Also preceding him in death were his brothers, Harold, Bernard, Andrew and a sister, Delores.
