Obituary

Wayne Tilberg, age 79 of Ethan, SD died Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Sanford University Medical Center, Sioux Falls, SD. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, December 31, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Ethan, SD with burial at Hillcrest Cemetery in Ethan, SD. Visitation will be at the Will Funeral Chapel from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM Sunday, December 30, 2012. Wayne Tilberg, son of Vivian and Elmina (Hanner) Tilberg was born April 23, 1933 in rural Ethan, SD. He attended country school in rural Ethan and later graduated from Ethan High School. In December of 1953, Wayne entered the US Army and served in the Korean War. After his honorable discharge he returned to Ethan, SD. He was employed at Rozum Motor Company for a short time. He was united in marriage with Melva Jo Kisler on February 21, 1954 in Mitchell, SD. Wayne farmed NE of Ethan his entire life. Wayne was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ethan. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Farmers State Bank in Parkston for 31 years. Grateful for having shared his life are his son, Tim (Sue) Tilberg, Ethan, SD; four grandchildren, Shelly Tilberg, Ethan, SD, Hanner Tilberg, Ethan, SD, Allison Freeman, Mitchell, SD, Laura Freeman, Mitchell, SD; and a son-in-law, Ron (Paula) Freeman, Mitchell, SD; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Melva Jo Tilberg on October 5, 2001; a daughter, Tracy Freeman on April 26, 1998; and his parents, and a brother, Randall Tilberg in 1989.
