Wanda L. Johnson, 72, of Mitchell, died May 21, 2004 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Monday at the Graceland Cemetery. She was born March 6, 1932, at Mitchell, to Clarence and Nina (Hedden) Dahl. She attended Lisbon #20 country school and then three years at Mitchell High School. She married Otto Frey in June, 1948. Wanda married William (Bill) Johnson on October 7, 1960, at Rapid City. She was employed for ten years at Kresges in Mitchell; ten years at Ben Franklin; ten years at Campbell Supply and retired in 1976. She cleaned houses for the elderly and helped them with errands. She loved to cook and was an avid lover of cats. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and was active in church circles. She is survived by a daughter, Vicki Frey, of Mitchell; two sisters, Audrey Schou, Streator, Illinois, and Donna Pierce, Eugene, Oregon; friend, Wayne Lyons, Mitchell and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Johnson, on Nov. 29, 1980, her parents and one brother, Dallas Dahl. Memorials can be directed to the SD Federation of the Blind or Mitchell Area Adjustment Training Center.
