Virginia Lee (Aesoph) Kayser, age 78, formally of Alexandria, SD, passed away March 23, 2020 at Keelson Harbour Assisted Living Facility in Spirit Lake, IA after a five-year battle with Parkinson's.
A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday, August 6, 2020 at St. Mary of Mercy Church in Alexandria, SD. Visitation will begin an hour prior to the service.
Virginia was born on September 5, 1941 in Faulkton, SD to Leo and Bernice (Baloun) Aesoph. Virginia lived on a farm near Orient, SD; she went to country school through the eighth grade. Virginia attended Orient High School for one year before finishing school in Polo, SD. She then went to cosmetology school in Aberdeen where she met Mike Wharton and they married in September 1962. To this union three sons were born. The family moved to Mitchell, SD and she worked at K Mart for eighteen years, later she worked at Perkins Restaurant as a hostess.
In 1988 Virginia married Gene Kayser. One of Virginia's greatest pleasures in life were her children. She enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and attending church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her three sons; Chris Wharton, Ross Wharton, Kevin (Roxy) Wharton, step children; Mike (Melanie) Kayser, Stephanie (Mitchell) Mulliniks, Tim (Rhonda) Kayser, Eric (Missy) Kayser ; twelve grandchildren; five great grandchildren; four sisters, Patty, Karen, Jackie, Joann; three brothers, Mike, Steve and David; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene Kayser; brothers, Jerry, Bobbie and Jeff.
