Violet May (Dutt) Sayles, age 83, of Mitchell, SD passed away on Sunday October 24 ^, 2021, under Avera Hospice Care at Avera Brady. A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Friday, October 29, 2021 at Servicemen's Cemetery in Mitchell, SD.

Violet was born May 5, 1938 in Tolstoy, SD to John J and Martha Dutt.  Violet made her way to the big city of Mitchell and graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She spent most of her 45-year career as an OB nurse working nights surrounded by her favorite people – babies.

She married Richard Sayles in 1959 and raised 4 "sturdy, strong willed but lovely daughters".  Time with family was very important. From afternoons spent at the pool to vacations in the Black Hills and beyond. She will be remembered for her genuine kindness, compassion and patience.

She is survived by her four daughters, Patty Sayles, Jackie (Ron) VonEye, Steph (Lonnie) Sayles-Nedved, Karen (Jon) Altman; 2 brothers; 4 sisters; countless in-laws, outlaws and so many grandchildren and great grandchildren that we lost count.
