Violet Corrington, 102, of Mitchell passed away Monday, September 12, 2022 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2022 at First Lutheran Church; burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, September 16, 2022 at Will Funeral Chapel.
Violet Fay Orlena Bibler Corrington was born in William County, Alamo, North Dakota on October 13, 1919 to Samuel and Fay (Smallback) Bibler. She attended school in Alamo, graduating in 1937. She worked for J.C. Penny in Mitchell for many years and also sold insurance for Degree of Honor.
Violet was united in marriage with Sterling Corrington on December 9, 1955. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church. Violet was one of the first women to serve as a trustee also first woman to be an usher, the FLCW president and treasurer.
She volunteered in many places and received honors for her service from the National Fraternal Congress of America and Firesteel Health Care. She belonged to the First Lutheran Peace Makers, helping with quilting and crocheting sweaters and caps for newborns for church missions.
Grateful for having shared her life are her children; Charlotte (Jerry) Vargues, Loydeen (Jim) Williams, Bonnie Fuerst, five grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren and three great great grandchhildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling, son, Gary, daughter Mary Alice and great granddaughter, Kailey Nichols.
