Versal V. Brown, 106, of Mitchell, SD, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Firesteel Health Care in Mitchell.  Funeral Services will be at 10:30 Friday, February 28, 2020 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be an hour prior to the funeral service.  Burial will be in Servicemen's Memorial Cemetery.

Versal V. Caylor was born December 20, 1913 in Ava, MO to Mike and Martha (Evans) Caylor.  After a few moves along the way she attended school in Miltown, SD and graduated from Ethan High School in 1931.  Versal moved to Mitchell to continue her education by completing beauticians school in November 1939 and continued as a hairdresser for many years, full and part time in shops in Mitchell, Plankinton as well as at home.

Versal married Arvid Brown on July 25, 1939 to which four children were born over sixteen years.  While raising four children, Versal became a cub scout den mother, girl scout leader, aided Arvid as a 4-H leader as she attended her children's activities.  During retirement years she could be found selling her knitting, crochet work and other crafts at fairs in the area with Arvid.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arvid; all of her sisters and brothers, Elsie Mace, Fred Caylor, Harvey Caylor, Frank Caylor and Ethal Walz; many nieces; nephews; and cousins.

Versal is survived by four children; Vern, Sioux Falls, SD; Jarrold, North Platte, NE; William (Kathy), Marion, SD; Martha Jane, Aurora, CO; seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
