IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Valeria
Schaeffer
July 2, 1937 – December 30, 2020
Valeria Delilah Schuh was gifted to the world on July 2, 1937 in Delmont, S.D., and to her parents, Herbert Schuh and Solome (Semmler) Schuh, whom she both now joins in eternal rest. She was preceded in her rest by her Father and Mother, her brother, Harlan, her sister-in-law, Sharon and her granddaughter, Christina Schuldt.
Valeria, or Vally Dally, or Val as we all commonly remember her, began country school in rural Tripp, S.D., and moved to Parkston, S.D. in 2nd grade. She continued school in Parkston into high school, until she met LeRoy Schaeffer and married him on May 30, 1954.
The union blessed Val with five beloved children, 10 grandchildren, and 20 great grandchildren:

Let's all just call Valeria, Mom, because most felt that way about her regardless of age. If she wasn't cleaning up after her own kids, she was cleaning up after everyone else's kids AND everyone else, as a professional waitress. Whether it was her first proud job at the Saint Charles Hotel and Cafe in Parkston as a teenager, or later in life at Vern's Beer Garden in Menno, The Town House Cafe in Mitchell, or Tallieb s Restaurant in Rapid City, Mom was busy serving her community, literally, and quietly making a profession of making others happy, comfortable and content. These were always her best and most natural traits.
At heart, she was an entertainer. She taught herself to yodel and was exceptionally good at it. She loved playing her guitarb Hawaiian style. She entertained many at family gatherings. She was a great dancer who loved to two-step and polka.
She loved Elvis the Pelvis, old & new pop music, TV shows, Sheldon Cooper, Hollywood movies, celebrity Crosswords, collecting roosters, and Disney EVERYTHING - especially Mickey. But above all, her greatest interest and love was her family.
Due to current travel restrictions, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Christian Worship Hour, Aberdeen, SD.
