Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday with a prayer service followed by Order of Eastern Star Service at 7 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell.

Twyla Maxine Adams, eldest daughter of Manley and Mae (Mathis) Edwards, was born on March 4, 1932, in Aurora County, SD. She attended a rural elementary school near Letcher and graduated from Plankinton High School in 1950. After graduation, Twyla attended Notre Dame College in Mitchell and Wessington Springs Junior College where she earned a certificate to teach in 1951. She was united in marriage with Earl Adams, May 25, 1952, at her folks farm, north of Plankinton, SD. They renewed those vows in a grand weekend on their 50th wedding anniversary at their home place in Plankinton, with the children hosting many relatives and friends.

In addition to raising a family and teaching, Twyla was an accomplished baby sitter, clerk for the Aurora County Soil Conversation District, Plankinton school kindergarten aide, school substitute teacher, retail sales person, Aurora County Court house in employee in Treasurers office and Deputy of Register of Deeds, and city librarian. Twyla also owned a business on the farm known to all as Twylas Treasures.

Twyla was very active in volunteering such as visiting individuals and styling hair in retirement homes, and was a long term member of Eastern Star Order #30, lifelong member of VFW Auxiliary, former treasurer of the LEE committee, and member of the Ever Ready Eleven Club. She was a Girl State Representative and supported and promoted the program since 1949, attending the spring teas and encouraging organizations to sponsor a Girls State representative. She had a passion for collections including salt and pepper shakers and dolls. She loved attending auctions, crocheting, and knitting. In 1996, Twyla and her husband moved to Scotland to retire. They enjoyed travel in the lower 48 and Canada to visit children, grandchildren, relatives and friends; playing cards and games with the locals; attending grandchildrens school events and worshipping at the Tyndall United Methodist Church.

Grateful for having shared in her life are her children, Donald (Karen) Adams, Sioux Falls, SD; Denise (Curtis) Fox, Alexandria, SD; Debra Adams, Belfair, WA; David (Patti) Adams, Merrimac, WI; Dorene (Craig) Winckler, Scotland, SD; Douglas (Tammy) Adams, Kansas City, MO; and Daryl (Karen) Adams, Northville, MI; special family friend, Tracye Sherrill; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; three brothers, Edwin (Caroline) Edwards, Moorhead, MN; Creighton (Micheal) Edwards, Houston, Texas; Dennis (Clarice) Edwards, Fargo, ND; and one sister, Rochelle Edwards, Jackson, MN; sister-in-law Mary Catherine Edwards, Plankinton, SD; brother-in-law William Pryor, Denver, CO; nieces and nephews and many dear friends.
