Troy J. Neugebauer age 39, of Allison, IA formerly of Mitchell, SD died Friday, March 22, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Monday, April 1, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.
Troy James Neugebauer was born on July 3, 1979 in Mitchell, SD to Doug and Karen (Strand) Neugebauer. Troy attended Whittier Elementary in Mitchell, Whittier Middle School in Sioux Falls graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1997 where he played high school football. He continued his love of football as a MN Vikings fan, Go Vikes! He Attended South East Vocational Tech for Industrial Technology, worked as a construction tech for UBC in Mitchell and warehouse manager for Sturdevant's Auto. At the time of his death he spent the last12 years as a railroad signal maintainer for Allpress & Moore RR Signal Contractors Inc. for the Iowa Northern Railroad in Waterloo, IA. Troy could trouble shoot about any problem that he encountered on the railroad.
Troy developed his mechanical skills early in life which let to his love of cars "Mopar's". He began attending drag races at Thunder Valley Dragway's in Marion, SD where his dad and uncle Rod raced. Troy celebrated many of his birthdays at the race track. Troy got his first car at age 13 from uncle Rod, his first Duster! Troy spent many hours tuning his car up so he could have the best run at the drag strip. Troy and brother Travis spent many good times together trying to get the best time. Troy became highly respected by his fellow racers at Thunder Valley in Marion. Troy's love of racing also took him to Earlville, IA and Cedar Falls, IA when there wasn't a race in Marion.
Troy loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping, uncle Jeff took Troy on his first deer hunt in the Black Hills of SD, where Troy shot his first deer. Troy and his cousin Jason remember their BB gun target practice session when they shot the windows out of Grandpa N's barn. Grandma N got a lot of grey hair from the many hours the boys spent racing the Toyota dune buggy around the track at Grandma and Grandpa N's house.
Troy's culinary skills developed at a young age, he was always willing to share new recipes with friends and family. Troy got his furry companion Chloe as a small pup, he spent hours with her by his side.
Troy cherished the love of his family, the bond between his brother and him was like no other Travis and Troy spent relentless hours discussing, strategizing the best ways to repair and fix about anything. Travis will miss Troy's companionship and broad range of wisdom. Troy had a heart of gold, which he wore on his sleeve. He would help anyone who needed it if he could. Troy's body was donated to the Iowa Donor Network, his final gift was the "gift that keeps on giving".
Grateful for sharing his life are his mother Karen and step dad John Allpress; father Doug Neugebauer; bother Travis (Heather) Neugebauer and their children Talan, Ava and Wyatt; step brother Jay (Varina) Allpress and their children Alexandra and Hannah Allpress; step sister Holly Loesche and her daughter Chiara Loesche; maternal grandparents Dale and Dorothy Strand; paternal grandmother Rose Neugebauer; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by a stillborn sister Tina Marie Neugebauer and grandfather Norbert Neugebauer.
