Obituary

T imothy George "Fitz" Fitzpatrick was born May 3, 1962 to Keith and Shirley Fitzpatrick. He attended Holy Family Catholic Grade School, Mitchell Middle School and Mitchell Senior High School, graduating in 1981. He joined the SD Army National Guard in 1980. Fitz served his c ountry 6 years, 7 months and 10 days as Private First Class, honorably discharged in 1986.

He was a man of many talents. Fitz graduated from MTI with a Degree in Carpentry. He then in 1984 using his carpentry skills remodeled the building that his brother Patrick and he opened known as "Fitz's Place" on Mitchell Main Street. They added a second location in Artesian, SD. In 1991, after Fitz's Place doors closed, he received his CDL and started Fitzpatrick Trucking with his brother Patrick.

In 1993 he became a father to Jonathon Keith. He continued trucking until 1997, with the birth of his daughter, Cassie May. He wanted to be closer to home and family, Fitz started Palace City Cab with his brother Patrick. After running the cab service, he decided to put his carpentry skill back to use.

In 2005 he hopped back in the Fitzpatrick Truck and after 7 years parked the "Rig" for good after Cassie May was diagnosed with cancer in 2012. He then started Fitzpatrick Painting and continued until 2022. He had a passion for painting. Fitz painted everything from doll houses, Walmart, water towers and residential homes. One of his projects he was most proud of was painting the Mitchell Kernel Joe Quintal Stadium. He didn't like "punching the clock". Fitz loved using his hands and took tremendous pride in his work. He was by definition a "Jack of All Trades".

Fitz enjoyed camping, fishing, riding his motorcycles, sitting around a fire socially or with just his thoughts quietly. He was a loyal "Packers" fan in which he shared with his children and never missed a game together, which in turn never outmatched his love for Notre Dame Football that he shared with siblings and father. He is survived by his children; Jonathon and Cassie Fitzpatrick (Mitchell, SD0, siblings; Patrick Fitzpatrick (Estelline, SD), Shaun Fitzpatrick (Mitchell, SD), Kelly (Kris) Fitzpatrick (Sioux Falls), and Maureen (Steve) Fitzpatrick-Koch (Mitchell, SD). Fitz was loyal, loved and will be missed every moment of everyday. He flew to the heavens December 9, 2022 joining his big brother, Mike and parents, Keith and Shirley.

Until we are all together again for the "Jack N Tim" show. Rest in Peace our beloved Tim.
