Tim "Rubes" Schmidt, 59, of Mitchell passed away Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Avera Queen of Peace hospital in Mitchell, SD. A visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Saturday, April 8, 2023 at Will Funeral Chapel. A Celebration of Life to follow at Dr. Lucky's.

Rubes was born December 17, 1963 in Parkston, SD to Leo and Adella (Hohn) Schmidt. He grew up in Parkston and graduated from Parkston High School. He joined the South Dakota National Guard; serving until 1986. Rubes worked for Midcontinental Tuck Pointing from 1986 until 1995. He then began working at Mitchell Concrete and worked there until his death.

Rubes enjoyed fishing, camping and was a Dallas Cowboys fan.

Mohave, AZ, David Schmidt, Mitchell, SD sisters; Carol (Mark) Wilant, Appleton, WI, Connie (Dan Allen) Gallup, Barrington, IL, Diane Duvall, Ft. Collins, CO, Janet (Mel) Sedlacek, Yankton, SD, Valerie Schmidt, Des Moines, IA, 10 nieces and nephews and 9 great nieces and nephews; his sister-in-law, Lynn (Lance) Bauske, Valley Springs, SD.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his step father, Edmond (Shorty) Heibel and one brother, Tom Schmidt.
