Thomas Lambrecht, age 85, of Mitchell died Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at Avera Brady Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 AM at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell, with a burial at Serviceman's Memorial Cemetery with military rites. Visitation will be Sunday 6-8 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel, with a prayer service starting at 7 PM followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary. Thomas G. Lambrecht was born October 11, 1926 in Schuyler, NE to Wallace and Libbie (Houfek) Lambrecht. He graduated from Schuyler High School in 1943, enlisted in US Navy in 1944 and served on the U.S.S. Laffey DD 724 in the Pacific. Honorably discharged on August 6, 1946 and served four year in the naval reserve. Thomas then moved to the family farm with his parents NE of Mitchell in 1949. On October 22, 1960 he married Jean Hunt at St. Stevens Church in Bridgewater, SD and farmed for 49 years while working for the Mitchell Public School District for 28 years. Thomas suffered a stroke in 1998 and the couple then made their home in Mitchell. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion and VFW. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Jean of Mitchell; two sons Mark Lambrecht of Littleton, CO. and Mike and wife Kim of Oswego, IL; grandson Brennan Lambrecht of Oswego, IL. He was preceded in death by an infant son and his parents.
