Thomas Lee Cain, 69, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Mitchell, passed away in his home on Saturday August 22. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday August 27 at Celebrate Meadows Church, 3211 South Shirley, Sioux Falls SD. Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday at Miller Funeral Home West, 6200 West 41st, Sioux Falls with a 7:00 PM prayer service. Arrangements are under direction of Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Thomas L. Cain, son of Arthur and Loretta (Wermers) Cain was born June 6, 1946 in Mitchell, SD. He lived in Mitchell until 1986 and then moved to Sioux Falls. He had attended Mitchell High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Judith Vickers on August 29, 1963. To this union he was blessed with his girls, Jodie, Janean and Jennifer. Tom loved cars. His first job was with Iverson-Max Motors as a mechanic. He then had his first business in Mitchell, a Texaco Gas Station. Tom's love of cars started his passion of owning and driving race cars. He then turned that passion into a business by opening TC Speedland in Mitchell and later owning Masterbend Muffler in Mitchell and Sioux Falls. He also worked for Gateway Computers and Woods Dual in Sioux Falls. In his retirement years he worked for Jerry's Automotive. Tom enjoyed his passion of racing for over 40 years. He and his family, traveled across the United States racing. In 1975, he won the Division V National NHRA Championship with his dragster. Tom also had a passion for flying. He became a licensed pilot and enjoyed flying with his family. Tom also managed Thunderdome Dragways in Sioux Falls. Tom and his family managed Thunder Valley Dragways in Marion SD for 12 years. Tom took great pride in providing a place for the racers to race. He could be found working day and night preparing the track and grounds for the racers each weekend. He also become an EMT for the safety of the racers. After managing the track, Tom sold his dragster and purchased a Corvette. He was very active in the Sioux Falls Corvette Club and served on the Board of directors. He enjoyed planning car tours for the club. Tom was also a member of the Sioux Falls Street Rod Car Club and Sioux Falls Car Council. Tom was a great family man as he included his family in all he did. Having been married for just shy of 52 years, Tom is survived by his loving wife, Judith, daughters Jodie Cain-Lambert, Mitchell, Janean Christensen-Shank(Jay), Sioux Falls, Jennifer Cain, Steen Mn. His grandchildren, Jackson Lambert, Sioux Falls, Trevor Lambert, Mitchell, Taylor Christensen, Brookings, Cole Christensen, Sioux Falls, Levi Doyle Aberdeen, and Jordan Doyle, Woonsocket, his mother Loretta Cain, Parkston and his great-grandson Jace Doyle. Tom was preceded in death by his brother Norman "Jackie" Wermers, his father Arthur Cain and his son-in-law Jon Christensen.
