Theola Elizabeth Wenzel, age 65, of Mitchell, died December 3, 2006 at the Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM on Thursday, December 7, at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in rural Kaylor, SD. Theola was born February 25, 1941 at Mitchell to Theodore and Leah (Dietrich) Meyer. She grew up on a farm near Alpena and graduated from Alpena High School in 1959. She attended Northern State College in Aberdeen. Theola was united in marriage to George H. Wenzel on March 6, 1961, at Pipestone, Minnesota and lived in Wessington Springs. They owned and operated Wenzel Texaco for over 15 years. She moved to Spicer, Minnesota where she found her calling as an associate for a group home. She retired in 2001 and moved to Mitchell. She lived at Meadowlawn for the last four years and had battled cancer for three and a half years. She enjoyed her lunchtime group and all her Meadowlawn friends. She also enjoyed beading, crocheting and pinochle on the Internet. She is survived by her daughters: Debra Wenzel, Vermillion; Laura Jackson (Tim), Woonsocket and Krista Wenzel, San Antonio, Texas; five grandchildren: Courtney Blake Wenzel, Wessington Springs, Paul Jackson (Katie), Atlanta, GA, Leah Jackson, Eric Jackson and Renee Jackson all of Woonsocket; one sister, Dorothy Travnicek (Edward) Ramsey, Minnesota; a niece, Julie, and a nephew, Andrew. She was preceded in death by her parents.
