Thelma Smith, 81, of Mitchell, died Sunday October 24, 2004 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00PM Sunday October 31, 2004 at the Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene in Mitchell. Visitation will be Saturday, from 5PM to 8PM at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at 10:00 AM Monday at the Servicemens Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Thelma was born July 21, 1923, in Lyon County, Iowa to Martin and Rosena (DeBoer) Kruger. She received her education at Little Rock, Iowa and Round Lake, Minnesota. On September 26, 1942, she was united in marriage to Ray Smith in Jackson County, MN. They lived most of their lives in Hanson County, SD and moved to Mitchell in 1994 after they retired. She is survived by her son Melvin and wife, Vernetta of Fremont, NE; one brother, Merlin, of Worthington, MN and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded death by her husband on July 12, 2004, one sister, and one brother. Memorials will be directed to the Harvest Community Church of the Nazarene.
