Obituary

Sylvester H. Thome, 88, of Mitchell, died October 10, at Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Sylvester H. Thome, son of John and Anna (Muntefering) Thome, was born June 30, 1917 on the family farm in Hutchinson County, SD. He grew up the Beardsley, SD and Parkston, SD area. Sylvester attended country school and Catholic school in Parkston. After his schooling he helped on the family farm and was employed doing construction work for various construction companies. Sylvester was united in marriage with Dorothy Weber on April 19, 1958 in Rock Rapids, IA. Sylvester was employed for Robideau Trucking for 20 years, retiring in the early 1980s. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church and enjoyed caring for his yard. Sylvester loved spending time with his grandchildren and friends. Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Dorothy Thome, Mitchell, SD; three daughters, Sue Thill and her husband, David, Mitchell, SD, Tammy Buntrock and her husband, Dean, St. Ansgar, IA, Kathleen Dotseth and her husband, Craig, Apple Valley, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; a sister, Rose Brech, Mitchell, SD; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed Smith, Parkston, SD, Hilda Thome, Parkston, SD, Sylvestor Weber, Delta, CO, Floyd Weber and his wife, Pat, Loveland, CO, Michael Weber Jr. Golden, CO, Tom Weber and his wife, Karen, Yankton, SD, Bernard Weber and his wife, Kathy, Loveland, CO, Shirley Gunn and her husband, Jack, Loveland, CO, Arlene Ellis and her husband, Bob, Reliance, SD, Yvonne Krumm and her husband, Herman, Farmer, SD, Therese Weber, Mitchell, SD; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth Lee; three sisters, Margaret and Ed Hohn, Laura Smith, Clara and Rudolph Brech; a brother, Norbert Thome; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Donald and Ruby Weber, Melvin and Anna Mae Hall, Mary Margaret Weber. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Sylvesters name.
