Sue Strand, 69, of Mitchell, SD passed away Thursday, October 24, 2019 at Avera Heart Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Monday, October 28, 2019 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Visitation will be from 5 to 7:00 PM Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Will Funeral Chapel.  Burial will be at Servicemen's Cemetery.

Sue, daughter of Kenneth and Joyce (Nelson) Freeman was born October 3, 1950 in Mitchell SD.  Sue graduated from Mitchell High School in 1968 and then attended college at SDSU.  Sue worked at State Farm Insurance, First Lutheran Daycare Center, operated her own home daycare and was the librarian at LB Williams Elementary until she retired.  Sue was united in marriage to Calvin Strand on February 28, 1981 in their hometown of Mitchell, SD.

Sue enjoyed reading books, listening to music and loved singing and dancing.  Sue and her family spent many weekends camping when her children were young.  She was also on a bowling and steel tip dart league and was her husband's biggest cheerleader when he played softball for the Moose.   Sue formed many valuable friendships through those sports.   Sue was very talented with her lawn and gardening skills and received Yard of the Month numerous times.   She treasured being a mom and grandma the most and spent many hours watching her children and grandchild play baseball and softball.

Grateful for having shared in her life is her loving husband, Cal; a daughter, Michelle (Tanner) Musick of Mitchell, two sons; Cody (Jill) Larson of Mitchell and Ryan (Brittney) Strand of Sioux Falls, 6 grandchildren; Justice Hinker, Jayci Hinker, Noah Larson and Mia Larson all of Mitchell, Carson Strand and Sydney Strand of Sioux Falls,  2 step grandchildren; Cassidy Musick and Tierney Musick of Mitchell, and three brothers; Dave (Kathie) Freeman of Mitchell, Ron (Paula) Freeman of Mitchell and Richard Freeman of Sioux Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister in law; Tracy Freeman and paternal and maternal grandparents.
