Steven Duane Houser, 51, of Mitchell died May 21, 2004 at Avera McKennan. Funeral services will be at 10:00 AM Tuesday at First Reformed Church in Mitchell with burial at the Servicemens Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Steven Duane Houser was born on September 21, 1952 in Cherokee, IA to Dewayne and Dorothy (Morrow) Houser. He moved with his family to Mitchell as a young child. He attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1970. He entered the US Air Force on September 24, 1971 serving in Guam. Steve was discharged on December 23, 1975. He returned to Mitchell and began his career at Trail King as an electrician. He married Denise Hoffman. On July 22, 2000 he married his second wife, Jan Wagner in Mitchell. The couple made their home in Mitchell with 26 years of service at Trail King. Steve enjoyed hobbies such as darts, pool, and bowling. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and Dakota Prairie Dart League. He is survived by his wife, Jan Houser, Mitchell, SD; 6 children, Kara Johansen, Dolton, SD, Lisa McConniel Iowa Falls, IA; Ryan Houser, Pam Wagner, Krisdeana Wagner, Elaina Houser, all of Mitchell. 5 grandchildren; Katelyn, Jordan, Christopher, Connor, and Dylan; his parents, Dewayne and Dorothy Houser, Mitchell, SD; 2 sisters; Becky (Frank) Smith, Milwaukee, WI; and Doreen (Brian) Booth, Sioux Falls, SD; also numerous uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
