Stephanie Raterman, age 41, of Mitchell died Monday, May 23, 2005 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday 10:30 AM at the First United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Herrick Cemetery, Herrick, SD at 2:00 PM Friday. Stephanie Ellen Stahlecker Raterman was born July 23, 1963, in Burke, South Dakota to Riney and Virginia (Ulrich) Stahlecker. She spent her young life in Keya Paha County, Nebraska on the farm that she loved. She attended high school in Burke, SD and graduated in 1981. After high school, she married Bryan Raterman and to this union two children were born; Nicole Grace and Jordan Lee. Stephanie graduated from Dakota Wesleyan University and fulfilled her dream of becoming a nurse. Stephanie had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. She spent all of her adult life in Mitchell where she raised her children. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and attended church faithfully until her health failed. Stephanie had a smile and a kind word for everyone she met. She took special pride in her childrens accomplishments and always took special pride in Jordans racing and ballgames. Her special joy came in October, 2004 when she was blessed with a beautiful granddaughter, Jasmine Grace Brooks, daughter of Nicole and J. Brooks. She leaves to mourn her passing, her children, Nicole Grace and Jordan Lee, both of Mitchell, her granddaughter, Jasmine Grace Brooks, Mitchell, her parents, Riney and Virginia Stahlecker, Mitchell, and her sister and husband, Heidi and Steve Menholt, of Harrisburg, along with a host of relatives and many friends.
