Stella OConnor, age 74, of Mitchell, died Saturday, September 30, 2006, at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital. Funeral service will be held Wednesday, at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Stella was born February 7, 1932, in Charles Mix County to Carl and Nellie (Whitrock) Bell. She graduated from Armour High School. She married Johnny OConnor on August 29, 1950. They lived in Lake Andes and then moved to Oakland, California. They moved to Mitchell in 1955 and she worked at Herters, Dakota Cheese and Mitchell Manufacturing. They also owned and managed OConnors Shamrock Inn. Stella is survived by her daughter, Linda Mayer and husband, Dean, of Mitchell; two sons, Mick and wife, Carla, of Mitchell, and Pat and wife, Patty, of Alexandria; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; three sisters: Carol Stanga, Mitchell, Margaret Reinfeld, Armour and Eva Smith and husband, Dean, of Illinois. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2004, her parents and two sisters, Alice Hohn and Ruth Hoffman.
