S haron Kuyper was born July 19, 1950 to Ernest and Harriet (Punt) Kuyper at Mitchell, SD. She attended Gardner Country School in Aurora County. She moved with her family to California, returning and graduating from Corsica High School in 1968, in the school's largest graduating class. She attended Northwestern College in Orange City, IA, where she started her career in banking.
She married Glenn Ligtenberg on November 13, 1970 at Harrison, SD. Besides raising her family, she enjoyed babysitting, volunteering, and her ladies bible study. In her spare time, she enjoyed music, piano, sewing, calligraphy and scrap-booking. Summers found her with her flowers and in the garden. She enjoyed redecorating, refinishing several homes, her efforts prefaced the current fad of flipping houses. She celebrated their 25 th wedding anniversary in their 10 th home.
She shared her outgoing smile and customer service with banking/accounting customers in Orange City, IA, Corsica, Aberdeen, Flandreau and Mitchell.
She is survived by her husband, of 49 years, Glenn; son Garth (Chantal) of Sturgis, SD; daughter Rita (Joe) Strub of Dallas, TX; grandchildren Tatum, Gavin, Ethan and Mary Ligtenberg and Hudson and Easton Strub; siblings, Arend (Ann) Kuyper of Summerset, SD, Kathleen (Tom) Vondracek of Walnut Grove, MN; inlaws, Myra Halsey of Riverside, CA, Helen (Verlin) Vander Wal and Fred (Patty) Ligtenberg of Corsica, SD, Edgar (Rose) Ligtenberg of Sioux Falls, SD and Joan (Wilmer) Niewenhuis of Platte, SD and her California grade school special friend, Kitti Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Harriet Kuyper and inlaws, Guy and Bertha Ligtenberg, a brother in law, Darrel Halsey.
