Sharon Gayle Freeman, age 57, of Mitchell, died Friday, May 9th at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, May 14th at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 13th from 6 to 8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at the Will Funeral Chapel. Sharon Gayle Heck, daughter of Elmer and Lois (Schorg) Heck, was born July 11, 1950 in Vancouver, WA. As a young child she moved to Mitchell, SD. Sharon grew up in Mitchell and graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1968. Sharon was united in marriage with Wayne Vickers on February 15, 1969 in Mitchell, SD. The couple made their home in Mitchell and Sharon was employed at Sunshine Foods. Sharon was then united in marriage with Dave Freeman on November 16, 1977 in Mitchell. The couple lived in Mitchell and Sharon continued her employment with Sunshine Foods. After her children were grown, she attended Mitchell Technical Institute. In 1998 Sharon moved to Sioux Falls and was employed at Sunshine Foods and Lewis Drug Store. In May of 2006 she returned to Mitchell, SD. In Mitchell she volunteered at the Senior Citizens Center. She enjoyed knitting, the Minnesota Vikings, American Idol and her two dogs, Emmy and Mattie. Grateful for having shared her life are her three children, Chad (Nikki) Vickers, Salem, SD, Wade Vickers, Mitchell, SD, Andrea Freeman, Mitchell, SD; two grandchildren, Jude and Cade Vickers, Salem, SD; her parents, Elmer and Lois Heck, Mitchell, SD; two sisters, Susan (Myron) Vander Heiden, Mitchell, SD, Sandy (Tom) Murray, Everett, WA; two brothers, Jerry (Monica) Heck, Bend, OR, Denny (Paula) Heck, Olympia, WA; a special friend, Duane Morgan, Corsica, SD; nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents; and a step brother, Robert Heck. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Sharon name.
