Sarah Schlenker, 86 of Mitchell died Friday, August 26, 2005 at the Firesteel Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be 7:00PM Monday evening at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial to be held 10:00AM Tuesday at Greenhill Cemetery in Alexandria. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7PM Monday the Will Funeral Chapel. Sarah was born February 17, 1919 at Delmont to John and Elizabeth (Hochalter) Lippert. She grew up in the Delmont area and married Alvin Schlenker on December 15, 1939. The couple farmed in the Mitchell area until 1957. They then moved to the Marshall, MN area until 1991 when ill health returned them to South Dakota. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church. Sarah enjoyed fishing, bingo and crocheting until health forced her to quit. She resided at Firesteel Healthcare Center of Mitchell. She is survived by one son, Darald and wife Jean of Mitchell; two grandchildren, Sandi Birgen and husband Bob of Gillette, WY and Patricia Sparling and husband Patrick of Manning, IA; two great-grandchildren, Megan and Stephanie Sparling of Manning, IA; also two sisters. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Alvin in 1993, one son Marvin in 2001, two brothers, and four sisters.
