Sara (Ell) Wipf, 95, of Winter Haven, FL, formerly of Mitchell, SD passed away March 10, 2015 at Good Sheperd Hospice, Sebring, FL. Per Sara's request, that there will be no services. She will be buried at a later date in the American Legion Cemetery, Mitchell, SD. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Sara Wipf, daughter of Paul and Mary (Hunegar) Ell, was born October 8, 1919 in Aberdeen, SD. She married Vernon Courtney and the couple made their first home in Aberdeen, later moving to Mitchell. They were blessed with five children. They owned the East Deuce Bar, where they were the first restaurant to bring pizza to Mitchell. Sara and her husband later owned Herbies Diner until it was hit by a tornado in 1962. Sara and Vernon opened and operated Court's Café until he was killed in a car accident in 1965. Sara worked at Herberger's, as well as the kitchen at Notre Dame School. She later married Arthur Wipf and moved to Huron, SD. Sara and Art traveled the world, seeing almost every continent together. They sold their home in Huron and traveled the United States in their fifth wheeler for several years, until they settled in Rapid City, SD. In 2008, they moved to Mitchell, where Art passed away in 2010. In the fall of 2012, Sara moved to Illinois to live with her daughter, MaryAnn, and they spent winters in Florida. Grateful for having shared her life are two daughters, MaryAnn Broeker, Winter Haven, FL, Judi (Jerry) Hughes, Rapid City, SD; a son-in-law, Clet Schoenfelder, Mitchell, SD; a daughter-in-law, Barb Courtney, Gillette, WY; two step daughters, Carrrie (Barney) Gottsch, Elk Horn, NE, Janelle (Gary) Kelley, Annapolis, MD; a step daughter-in-law, Nila Wipf, Harlingen, TX; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; 14 step grandchildren; 17 step great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Vernon Courtney; her second husband, Arthur Wipf; two sons, Rick Courtney and Del Courtney; a daughter, Linda Schoenfelder; one step son, Reginald Jae Wipf; a grandson, Craig Broeker; a step grandson, Adam Kelley; a step great granddaughter, Bella Morgan; her parents; two brothers, Nick Ell and Joey Ell; and two sisters, Marti Woodson and Annie Samuelson.
