Samantha Sue Bender, age 18, Fulton, died July 10, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 14, at the Hanson High School Auditorium. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Thursday at St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church with a Rosary at 6:40 PM followed by a Scripture reading at 7 PM. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery at Fulton. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Samantha was born September 8, 1987, in Mitchell, SD to Robert and Susan (Schieffer) Bender. She attended school in Alexandria and was a member of the 2006 graduating class of Hanson High. She appreciated growing up on the farm and enjoyed riding horses. She was a member of 4-H and showed horses and cattle. She was involved in many activities at Hanson High including cheerleading, dance, was a member of the marching band and served as a drum majorette. She played volleyball and basketball, participated in school plays and oral interpretation. Samantha was so passionate in supporting her mother and family in her mothers fight against cancer, she donated her hair for Locks For Love. She was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Catholic Church. She is survived by her parents, Rob and Sue Bender; her siblings: Patrick, Jacob, Tristan, and Savannah all of Fulton; her grandparents: Jim and Joan Schieffer, Mitchell; Lloyd and Jane Bender, Fulton; and Lucille Schieffer, Sioux Falls; special friend, Robbie Carstensen, Mitchell; uncles and aunts: Kathy and Keith Young, Mitchell; James and Jacqui Schieffer, Grand Rapids, MI; Mary and Tom Pahnisch, Sioux Falls; Christy and Jeff Ellison, Springfield, MO; Betsy and Matt Tobin, Fulton; Barbie and Jay Janssen, St. Bonifacius, MN; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her great grandparents. Memorials may be directed to the Fulton State Bank.
