Ruth Elaine Daley, 76, of Mitchell, South Dakota passed away on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, at her home under hospice care. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m., Sunday, June 28, 2026, at Will Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. A prayer service will follow the visitation at 3:30 p.m.

Ruth Elaine Garvis, daughter of Homer and Helen (Degen) Garvis was born June 20, 1950, in Mitchell, South Dakota. She attended country school near Ethan and later graduated from Ethan High School. She lived in Denver, Colorado for a time before returning to Ethan and then Mitchell. She did in home daycare for 14 years and then worked as a phlebotomist with United Blood Services for 20 years, retiring in 2015. During retirement she enjoyed quilting and loved going to her grandchildren’s activities.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Jenna (Bryan) Doorn of Mitchell; five grandchildren, Madison Daley of Plymouth, MN, Evan Doorn of Mitchell, Gabbie Daley of Sioux Falls, Kaden Daley of Sioux Falls, and Lucy Daley of Mitchell; sister, Mary (Pat) Shevlin of Omaha, NE; sister-in-law, Jeanette Garvis of Mitchell; many nieces and nephews, and five puppies, Oliver, Bailey, Walter, Marlin, and Frankie.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Helen Garvis; son, Jason Daley; brothers, Eldon, Donald, and Charles; and sisters, Joan and Elaine.
