Ruby Mickelson, age 93 of Mitchell, died Friday, March 12, 2010 at the Avera Brady Health and Rehab in Mitchell. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, March 15 at First Lutheran Church with burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the funeral at the church beginning at 10:00 AM.
Ruby was born on February 9, 1917 in Letcher, SD to Jay and Goldie (Burgett) Welch. Ruby grew up and graduated from Mitchell High School. She married Orval Mickelson on September 12, 1936 in Mt. Vernon. The couple farmed north of Storla for several years before moving to Storla. Then a few years later the couple moved to a farm southeast of Storla. During that time Ruby was a cook for the Storla Nursing Home for many years. After retirement they made their home in Mitchell.

She is survived by her daughter Gloria Jessen (Harold), Mesa, AZ; a son Michael Mickelson (Karen), Stillwater, MN; 6 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren. 1 sister Lois Stenson, Mitchell, SD and 1 brother Wallace Welch, Sioux Falls, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband Orval, 2 brothers Don and Verlon Welch, and 1 grandchild Brad Corlett.
