Ruby Dahl, age 100, of Mitchell, died September 15, at the Firesteel Healthcare Center. A family graveside service will be held Monday at Graceland Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at the First Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel. Ruby was born August 9, 1905 at Mitchell, SD to Roy and Maude (Schultz) Hackett. She attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School. She married Elmer Tastad September 24, 1923, at Mitchell. They farmed near Mitchell. Her husband died in 1965, and she moved into Mitchell in 1967. She married Clarence Dahl on April 24, 1971, at Mitchell where they made their home. Clarence preceded her in death in 1998. Ruby was a member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School for many years and was active in FLCW. She is survived by a daughter, Norma Black and husband, Lyle of Des Moines, Iowa; sons, Donald Tastad and wife, Georgianne, Augusta, Wisconsin and Wesley Tastad and wife, Patti, Eminence, Missouri; five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both husbands and one grandson, Eric Black.
