Roy Northrup, age 30, of Summerville, SC, formerly of Letcher, died Sept. 12, 2006 at Summerville. Funeral services will be at 10:30 AM on Monday, September 18, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6-8 PM Sunday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 7 PM. Burial will be in St. Scholasticas Cemetery at Letcher. Roy Lee Northrup was born April 7, 1976, at Mitchell, to Delbert and Kathy Northrup. He attended school at Letcher and graduated from Artesian/Letcher high school. Roy attended Mitchell Vo-Tech, was employed at Hendrickson Turner and also Hansen Wheel and Wagon Shop. He joined the Air Force in 1996. He served in Germany, Guam, Whiteman AFB in Missouri, South Korea and Charleston AFB in South Carolina. He was discharged from the Air Force in August, 2006, just prior to his death. On Feb. 29, 2004, he married Crystal Smith at Charleston, SC. He enjoyed baseball/softball, football, basketball and hunting. He was an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and loved his Harley Davidson motorcycle. Roy was loved very much and will be missed by his parents; sister, Sonja (Curt) Olson, Sioux Falls; three brothers, Miles (Kristen), Mitchell, Tyler, Mary), Sioux Falls, and Matthew (Margo) Pierre; five nieces, Taylor, Hannah, Shelby, Taryn, and Tesa; and his wife and step-daughter, Nikki, Peoria Heights, IL. He was preceded in death by a brother in 1964 and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
