Rose Clarice Wegehaupt, age 83, of Mitchell, SD went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Firesteel Healthcare Community after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Saturday, May 13, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church, Mitchell, SD with burial at Immanuel Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, May 12, 2017 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.

Rose Wegehaupt, daughter of Fritz and Ottilia (Scheetz) Wegehaupt, was born February 12, 1934, the youngest of nine children. She was baptized February 22, 1934 and confirmed June 22, 1947 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Dimock, SD. She spent most of her life on the family farm taking care of her mother and brother. After the death of her mother and brother she moved to Mitchell and still gave of her kindness and caring in being a teacher's helper (Mrs. Tate), helped in the church office monthly, deliver Meals on Wheels, and cleaned the church.

Rose was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Mitchell, where she also sewed quilts and served the Lenten suppers. She enjoyed lunches with friends, shopping, quilting, embroidering dish towels, mowing the yard on the farm, pizza and hot coffee.

Grateful for having shared her life are sisters; Helen Geidel, Parkston, SD, Adeline Storm, Corsica, SD, Margaret (Herbert) Geidel, Parkston, SD; a sister-in-law, Anita Wegehaupt, Parkston, SD; numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers, Arthur, Robert, George and Melvin Wegehaupt; an infant sister, Lucille Wegehaupt; two brothers-in-laws, Elmer Geidel and Lawrence Storm; a sister-in-law, Ruth Wegehaupt.
