Obituary

Ronald Dean Bollock, age 87, of Mitchell, SD died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 at his home. Funeral services will be 1:00 PM Saturday, August 6, 2016 at the Will Funeral Chapel with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2016 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM.
Ronnie, son of George and Laura (Moir) Bollock, was born August 26, 1928 on a ranch near Rapid City, SD. In the mid 1930's, he moved with his family to Mitchell. While in Mitchell he attended country school. At the age of 16, Ronnie moved to California with his Uncle Bud. While in California, he worked as a ranch hand at the Big Sur Ranch. He continued to work as a ranch hand in four different states. Ronnie later returned to Mitchell and was employed with Don Cook at the Southside Sale Barn.
Ronnie was united in marriage with Bonnie Royalty on March 16, 1949 in Luverne, MN. In 1950, the couple made their home in Piedmont, SD where Ronnie was employed at the Gingrass Ranch. He was drafted into the US Marines on January 3, 1952 and was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. In 1955, they started their family with the birth of their son Lonnie. In 1956, the couple moved back to Mitchell where their daughter Jackie was born. He was employed at Dakota Salvage for several years. In 1962, the couple started Ronnie's Parts & Salvage. In 1964, they added the final addition to their family with the birth of their son Troy. He continued his salvage business through 1994 and it was voted South Dakota's Neatest Salvage Yard. While in business, Ronnie made hundreds of friends, employed numerous people and was always willing to help those in need.
He was united in marriage with Joy Wilson (Atz) on October 3, 1983 in Mitchell, SD. In 1983 Ronnie and Joy began raising Registered Texas Longhorns. They named their ranch the Powderhorn Ranch. From 1983 until 2016, Ronnie's passion was raising longhorns and ranching. He never gave up and continued cutting hay, selling gravel, and raising longhorns. Ronnie was known throughout the Midwest for selling his Longhorns.
Ronnie loved all of his animals including his longhorns and faithful dog Addy.He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, fishing, and cowboy fast draw. He also enjoyed gardening and listening to Kitty Wells and Chet Atkins. Ronnie spent all of his life working hard and truly enjoyed it. He was a proud lifetime member the NRA.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Joy Bollock, Mitchell, SD; three children, Lonnie (Mary) Bollock, Mitchell, SD, Jackie (Alan) Bollock-Wibben, Mitchell, SD, Troy (Bonnie) Bollock, Mitchell, SD; eight grandchildren, Luci Bollock and Mark, Lennox, SD, Steve Fergen, Sioux Falls, SD, Debra Fergen Schmiedt and David, Dakota Dunes, SD, Scott Fergen and Connie, Mitchell, SD, Luke Bollock, Pierre, SD, Laura Bollock, Mitchell, SD, Lacy Bollock and Corey Degen, Mitchell, SD, Lincoln Bollock and Jenni Gray, Mitchell, SD; fourteen great-grandchildren,Tyson, Connor, Lonyx, Matayah, Cassius, Chloi, Zoey, Shandell, Blake, Ella, Xander, Emree, Rocco,  and Anson; a great-great grandchild, Ryah; a brother, George Bollock, Mt. Vernon, SD; sister-in-law, Sharon Meeters; brother-in-law, George (Katina) Atz; nieces and nephews: Paula, Connie, Lee, Clint, Clay, Vonda, Eric, Ward, Monte, Suzette, Dawn, Tresa, Kelsie and numerous other beloved relatives and former employees.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonnie (Royalty) Bollock; his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Donald "Glen" and numerous other relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be directed to Mitchell Area Hospice.
