Ronald Ray Hill Sr. (Ron) 69, passed away on October 19, 2023 in Mitchell. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Will Funeral Chapel.

He was born on May 19, 1954 in Bremerton, Washington to James Elbert Hill Sr. and Agnes Sophia (Apeland) Hill.

Ron was very musically inclined and began playing the drums as a child. He sang with his church choir, The Revivalaires, and went on trips with the group to Puerto Rico and Trinidad. He became a member of the Sound Foundation where he played drums, conga drums, and did vocals.

He graduated from West High School in Bremerton, WA in 1972. Ron married Dawn Baker on October 2, 1976 in Bremerton, WA. He worked as an assistant manager for Prairie Market in Bremerton, WA, Dairy Gold in Seattle and Olympia Washington. He served on the Board of Family Christian Center in Poulsbo, WA.

Ron and Dawn sang in churches and on gospel television. The family moved to South Dakota in 1997, where he remained employed with Toshiba until his retirement in 2020.

Ron is survived by his wife; Dawn Hill, son; Ronald (Jennifer) Hill Jr. and their children, Noah Hill, Bryar Hill, son; Shaun (Justina) Hill Sr. and their children, Cheyenne Hill, Ava Hill, Shaun Hill Jr., Freya Hill, Thorunn Hill, Autumn Hill, Gunnar Hill, daughter; Crystal (Peter) Wendelboe and their children, Corbin Wendelboe, Emma Wendelboe, Peter Wendelboe, Colten Wendelboe, Rowan Wendelboe, son; Timothy (Alyssa) Hill and their children, Tyra Hill, Amberle Hill, and child due in May, brothers; James Jr (Betty) Hill, Gordon (Eve) Hill, sister; Roberta (Bruce) Monroe, brother in-law; Mark Logue as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Agnes Hill, sister Kathleen Logue, his mother and father in-law, Fred Sr. and Nellie Baker, brother in-law James Hutson, and nephew, Nicholas Baker.
