Roger Kahler, age 59 of Huron formerly of Winner, died Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at his home in Huron. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Monday, July 11, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Winner, SD with burial at Winner City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM Sunday at the United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel of Mitchell, SD. Roger DeWayne Kahler, son of John and Irene (Dykeman) Kahler, was born January 26, 1952 in Burke, SD, the 2nd of nine children. He graduated from Gregory High School in 1970. Because of his love of cars, he worked for Tilton Motor Co. in Gregory, SD. Roger later moved to Armour and managed Armour Auto Parts Store until 1977. Following this, he moved to Winner and worked at NAPA. In 2000, Roger moved to Plankinton and worked for Marshall Engines until 2003 when he moved to Huron, SD. While in Huron, he was employed at Kutil's Carquest/Sturdevants until his death. On November 1, 1974 he married Linda Munson, which two daughters were born, Michelle (Ken) Payne and Abby Rounds. Roger loved auto mechanics, restoring old cars, fishing, camping, hunting and family vacations, and spending time with his four granddaughters. Survivors include his two daughters, Michelle (Ken) Payne, Plankinton, SD, Abby Rounds, Mitchell, SD; four grandchildren, Kirbie and Whitney Payne, Bailey and Kennedy Kahler; his brothers, Jim (Suzanne) Kahler, Plankinton, SD, David Kahler, Burke, SD; five sisters, Linda (Gerald) Wolf, Burke, SD, Ilene (Dale) York, Burke, SD, Shirley (Lyle) Mitchell, Tuscon, AZ, Marsha (Cal) Peck, Gregory, SD, Carol Jo Kahler, Winner, SD; many aunts, uncles, nephews and nieces. He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stuart Kahler; and a nephew.
