Robert E. Long was born April 7, 1948 in Mitchell, SD to the late Mr. and Mrs. Frank Long. Robert died November 1, 2009 unexpectedly at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 61. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday November 5, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Ethan, SD with burial at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Wednesday November 4, 2009 at the Will Funeral Chapel with a wake service beginning at 7 PM.

He was employed by Ethan Dairy for 25 years. Bob loved many things in life. He was an avid sports fan. Who never missed a Broncos, Coyotes or Seahawks game. His favorite pastimes were spent by taking long walks and visiting. Bob enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, family and friends. He was a loving brother and uncle who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his sisters and brothers: Sister Benedicta OSB, Elkton , SD; William Long and his wife, Lee Ann, Hebron, NE; Joseph Long and his wife, Nancy, Ethan, SD; Mary Harrington , Mitchell, SD; and Barbara Frasch and her husband, Mike of Lennox, SD; nieces and nephews: Kenny Long, Tami (Long) Sorensen, Mike Long, Scott Long and family, Brenda (Long) Tucker and family, Corey Long and family, Amanda Long, Sara Long, Tonya (Dicus) Rang and family, Jesse Dicus and family, Jason Dicus, Bridget (Machovsky) Ihnen and family and Bob Machovsky.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Clara Long; a brother, Charles Long; and a nephew, Jeremy Machovsky.
