Robert Kerwin, age 76, of Mitchell, SD died Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Sanford Hospice Cottage, Sioux Falls, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Friday, September 11, 2015 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 PM. Bob Kerwin, son of William and Bridget (Schoenfelder) Kerwin, was born October 14, 1938 in Presho, SD. He grew up and attended school in Kennebec, SD, graduating from Kennebec High School in 1957. Bob entered the US Air Force on April 9, 1958 and served as an air policeman. He was honorably discharged on December 4, 1959 and made his home in Chamberlain. In Chamberlain, Bob was employed at Peavey Lumber. He met his future wife in Chamberlain and was united in marriage with Janice Earl on June 8, 1963 in Chamberlain. Bob continued his career with Peavey Lumber in Chamberlain and was later transferred to Mitchell. The family moved to Scottsbluff, NE for a short time where Bob was employed at Wheeler Lumber. He returned to Mitchell and began working for Mueller Lumber on April 30, 1985, retiring from Mueller Lumber on October 14, 2000. In his retirement, Bob was employed at Cabela's in Mitchell. He was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Mitchell. Bob enjoyed fishing, camping and feeding birds. Grateful for having shared his life are his two children, Leah Kerwin, Sioux Falls, SD, Kris (Connie) Kerwin, Sioux Falls, SD; a brother, Dennis (Rhoda) Kerwin, Sioux Falls, SD;a sister, Marge Vogel, Aberdeen, SD. He is preceded in death by his wife, Janice Kerwin on November 6, 2010; his parents; two brothers, Joe and Bill; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Vogel.
