IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert A.
Aulner
April 17, 1948 – April 24, 2017
R
obert A. Aulner, son of Albert and Frieda (Schulz) Aulner, was born April 17, 1948 in Mitchell, SD. He up grew on the family farm and received his education in Alexandria. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the trumpet and running track.
Bob was an amazing cook and some would say his popcorn was better than anything you'd buy at the store. In addition to cooking, he enjoyed fishing, gardening, playing cards and watching westerns. He was fond of classic cars and listening to music from the 1950's and 1960's.
Before he retired, Bob worked as a maintenance mechanic. For many years his company specialized in making decorative tins. These tins replaced the need for wrapping paper for many Christmas and Birthday presents he gave as well as storage for things around the house. And remember that famous popcorn? That also was given to friends and family members in a tin.
He enjoyed traveling to South Dakota and often shared stories about his memorable trips. When his kids were young, he made every day they spent together fun. He loved spending time with his four grandchildren, who will greatly miss their "Grandpa Bob".
Grateful for having shared his life are his two children, Tim Aulner, Rockford, IL and Stacy Kvernmo, Aurora, IL; four grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald (Kate) Aulner, Alexandria, SD, Leonard Aulner, Houston, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
