Richard L. Livingston, 72, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at the Pioneer Memorial Hospital in Viborg, SD.  A graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Graceland Cemetery in Mitchell, SD.

Richard Lee Livingston was born June 11, 1949, to Dick D. Livingston and Leslie M. Taylor.  Richard attended Whittier Elementary, Mitchell Junior High, and Mitchell Senior High, graduating June 1967.  Richard was an exemplary student with a high grade-point average.  He was a naturally good athlete in Track & Field and held long-standing records in broad jump, 100-yard dash, and men's 4x4 relay.  He was also an excellent trombone player in the Mitchell Senior High band and, after graduation, in the Mitchell Municipal band.

In Richard's late teen years, he was struck with the debilitating illness of schizophrenia.  This disease limited Richard in many ways, but he was always kind, polite, and considerate to all he knew.  He lived simply and learned to adjust to life as it was given to him.  He is now in the arms of our Loving Heavenly Father and our Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ.

Richard is survived by his brother Larry Livingston of Denver, Colorado; his step-brother Jerry Grasser of Pilsach, Germany; his step-father Walt Grasser of Mitchell; and his aunt Dee Taylor Van Deest of Sioux Falls.
