Rex C. Clark age 90, of Mitchell died Sunday, September 25, 2011 under Hospice care. A Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 AM Saturday, October 1, 2011 at St. Mary's Episcopal Church. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery with military honors. Rex Comstock Clark was born June 9, 1921 on the family farm in Loomis, SD to Charles and Bernice (Comstock) Clark. He attended school in Mitchell and graduated from Mitchell High School in 1942. During the summer months Rex was a lifeguard at the Mitchell public beach. Rex joined the Army on July 29, 1942 and served in the Middle East Theater (Iran) until his honorable discharge on December 7, 1945. Upon his return to Mitchell he married the love of his life, Lorraine Judge at the Congregational Church in Mitchell on December 17, 1945. The couple lived at 408 West 11th in Mitchell their entire married life. Lorraine died January 12, 1994 and Rex continued to live in the family home until 2009 when he moved in with his daughter Jackie. Rex worked for Old Home Bread for 33 years as a route salesman retiring in 1980. He was a member of St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Mitchell where he served as both Senior and Junior Warden. He was a member of the American Legion. Rex enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, traveling, and eating good food (there were no bad foods). He also loved the winters in Arizona with Lorraine where he made numerous Kachina dolls. Rex was a Twins and Vikings fan and like watching them on TV. He treasured spending time with family and friends. For the past 15 years Rex enjoyed the constant companionship of his puppy Luc. Grateful for sharing his life are his children, Chuck (Shirley) Clark of Pierre, Barbara Nash of Mitchell, Georgia (Steve) Albrecht of Sioux Falls and Jackie (Craig) Christensen of Mitchell; Grandchildren: Paul (Diane) Clark of Battleground, WA., Dustin Clark of Portland, OR., Dave (Anita) Nash of Lolo, MT., Brian (Starette) Nash of Mitchell, Brent (Britt) Albrecht of Crystal, MN., Judd (Megan) Albrecht of Sioux Falls, Charlotte Albrecht (Dave) VanRoekel of Sioux Falls, Clark (Charola) Martinek of Mitchell, Darron Semmler of Martin; 13 great-grandchildren and sister Betty Koon of Red Lodge, MT. Rex was preceded in death by his wife, parents, brother Bill and sister Marion Trode.
