Randy Bathke age 65, of Plankinton died Friday, July 15, 2011 at his home. Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at the United Methodist Church in Plankinton. Visitation will be at the Will Funeral Chapel Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Plankinton. Randy Otto Bathke was born May 12, 1946 to Otto and Lola (Gross) Bathke in Mitchell. Randy was an only child and grew up in Lane, SD. He graduated from Lane High School in 1964. Randy married Candie Guindon on February 24, 1965 in Wessington Springs, SD. They were married for 37 years, Candie passed away May 26, 2002 from cancer. They lived in Plankinton all of their lives and raised 8 children. Over the years Randy worked for the Aurora County Highway Department, JD Concrete and the past 11 years at Mitchell Concrete. He enjoyed life on the farm, cooking and could fix anything. Grateful for sharing his life are his children Teresa (James Bublitz) Bathke, Anita (Allen) Schmidt, Kathy (James) Metz and Kevin Bathke all of Plankinton, Mike (Pam) Bathke, Jeff (Michelle) Bathke and Lori Jo (Nathan) Crago all of Mitchell; 11 grandchildren, Blair, Cooper, Jayden, Cole, Brittany, Kelsey, Kiersten, Clay, Haley, Brady and Isabel; mother and father in law Marty and Delores (Guindon) Schoenfelder; brother in law Skip (Betty) Guindon; sister in law Pennie (Evan) Edinger; aunt Caroline Gross and many nieces and nephews. Randy was proceeded in death his parents, infant daughter LaVonna, wife Candie, father in law Wayne Guindon and an uncle Roland Gross.
