Ralph William Gebhart, age 84, of Mitchell, died February 26, 2007, at Avera Bormann Manor in Parkston. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday at Will Funeral Chapel, Mitchell, SD. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Will Funeral Chapel. Ralph was born July 2, 1922, at Orient, SD to Edward and Clara (Bauhs) Gebhart. He graduated from Orient High School. He served in the United States Navy and was discharged on April 4, 1946. Ralph married Phyllis Kewley on November 23, 1948 at Mitchell. They lived in Miles City, Montana for 25 years. In 1965, he worked for Gamble-Robinson. He was in the trucking business for 20 years and started Ralphs Distributing in 1968. He also ranched and farmed for some years. They moved to Mitchell in 1970 and finished his work career by working for 3M until retiring in 1985. He was a member of the American Legion for 61 years and the Knights of Columbus. He was a member of the Holy Family Catholic Church. He is survived by his children: Elizabeth Liz Vittitoe, Wagner; William Bill Gebhart, Mitchell; Gerald Gebhart, Mitchell; Kathryn Buchholz and husband, Myron, Mitchell; John Gebhart, Aberdeen; two grandchildren, Heather Vittitoe, Tiffany Buchholz; three great grandchildren: Dante Vittitoe, Alysha Vittitoe and Paige Buchholz; brothers, Don Gebhart and wife, Mildred, Fergus Falls, Minnesota; Dick Gebhart and wife, Shirley, Mesa, Arizona; sisters, Blanche Haley, Santell, Minnesota, Dolores Clement, Orient, SD; Dorothy Ann LeDuc and husband, Jerry, Huntsville Alabama, and Geraldine Bowar, Paynesville, Minnesota. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, his parents and two brothers, Harold and Francis. The family requests memorials in lieu of flowers.
