Phyllis Marjorie Propst the daughter of Lorenzo and Sylvia (DeBrucyker) Thompson was born March 01, 1922 in Brandt, SD. She grew up on her grandfather's farm east of Brandt. Phyllis attended country school through eighth grade. As a young women she worked as a private caregiver for local families and later on she was employed at Courts Café for 17 years. She married Johnnie Clarence Propst on July, 08, 1950 in Clear Lake, SD. From this union three children were born, Eileen, John and June. John and Phyllis farmed in the Johnsonville and Bemis area, she helped with the field work and milking cows. Later on they moved to Mitchell, SD where they resided for the rest of their lives. Phyllis will be remembered by her family as a devoted mother and grandmother as a shy, kind, gentle spirit, always putting her family's needs ahead of her own. In life she was a wonderful baker and gardener, who enjoyed riding with her husband around Lake Mitchell and camping with her grandchildren. She appreciated the many cards, phone calls and visits from her siblings and Johnnie's extended family. Grateful for having shared her life are her children, a son John Propst ( friend Gwen), Mitchell, SD; a daughter June (Mike) Jares, Aberdeen, SD; six grandchildren, Summer (Travis) Gerry, Nikki (Anthony) Riggs, Tyler (Sara) Jares, Ariel (Cory) Skalla, Dawn Heinricks and Lexi Jares; eight great grandchildren; son-in-law, Dean(Shelia) Heinricks, Wyoming; in-laws Orville Magadanz, Ethel Propst, Arlene Propst, siblings Lorraine (Alvin) Hardie, Don (Tudy) Thompson, Harlan (Esther) Thompson, Maynard and Virgil Thompson ; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Johnnie, daughter Eileen and Phyllis sister, Virginia Stevanus.
