Phyllis Bush, daughter of Henry and Helen (Gribble) Friedrichsen, was born January 2, 1936, on a farm near Sheffield, South Dakota.  She grew up and attended elementary school in Sheffield and later graduated from Huron High School. Following high school, Phyllis attended South Dakota State University for a year.

Phyllis was united in marriage with Waren Bush in 1957 in Huron, SD. The couple made their home in Huron, Redfield, Lake Andes, Burke and since 1974 in Mitchell. While in Huron and Mitchell, Phyllis was employed as a teller at Norwest and later Wells Fargo Bank. She retired in 1998.

Phyllis was baptized, confirmed, and married at the American Lutheran Church in Huron.  In Mitchell, she was an active member of First Lutheran Church where, for years, she helped manage church offerings, coordinated receptions, assisted in other areas as well. At home, she enjoyed gardening.  She could regularly be found in her favorite chair watching TV and looking out her picture window at the neighborhood, especially watching the many birds and squirrels that she fed year-round.

Grateful for having shared her life are her two children, Michael Bush, Phoenix, AZ; Lori (Charles) Lumsden and her grandson, Chris Lumsden, Oklahoma City, OK, and her sister Lois Sollie, Aberdeen, SD.

Her nephews Curtis (Joan) Friedrichsen Watertown, Stewart (Shirley) Friedrichsen of Huron, and Brian Friedrichsen of Wolsey often visited to celebrated various holidays and especially when Phyllis' children were in town.  And finally, her nephew Doug (Brenda) Friedrichsen and their three children who regularly visited, helped take care of her house, gave rides to family gatherings, and most importantly, brought a favorite meal from a local restaurant on many of their visits.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her sister Iris Thoreson, and her brother LeRoy Friedrichsen.
