Pete N. Huke, 44, of Mitchell died Thursday, August 27, 2009 in Gillette, WY. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Wednesday at First Lutheran Church with burial at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7 PM.
Pete N. Huke, son of the Rev. Merlyn and Ardis (Engler) Huke, was born November 7, 1964 in St. Cloud, MN. Pete moved from Selby, SD to Huron, SD when he was in the seventh grade. He graduated from Huron High School in 1983. Pete attended USD at Springfield and Northern State University. He later graduated from the ADBC Program at Mitchell Technical Institute. After his schooling he made his home in Sioux Falls and then in Austin, TX. While in Austin, Pete was employed at Klock Electric. He moved to Mitchell, SD in 1994. In Mitchell he was employed at Future Homes, Mitchell Plumbing, Graphic Packaging, and finally Action Mechanical Inc of Rapid City.
Pete was united in marriage with Kimberlee K. Overbay on May 6, 1995 in Mitchell. The couple continued to make their home in Mitchell. He was a member of First Lutheran Church. Pete enjoyed playing playstation, constructing things, watersports and comedy movies. He was an avid sports fan especially the Chicago Bears and SDSU Jackrabbits.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Kimberlee K. Huke, Mitchell, SD; a daughter, Haylee Rae Huke; his mother, Ardis Huke, Bella Vista, AR; two sisters, Julie Huke-Klock, Austin, TX and Laurie (John) Stiegelmeier, Brookings, SD.
He was preceded in death by his father, Merlyn Huke and his grandparents.
In lieu of flowers a trust fund has been set up for Haylee Huke.
