Paul VanOverschelde, 94, died Friday, October 21, 2005 at Avera Queen of Peace Hospital of Mitchell. Funeral services will be 10:30AM Tuesday, October 25 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery in Mitchell. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM Monday at the Will Funeral Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 7:00PM. Paul was born September 16, 1911 in Letcher, SD and attended Butler #6 Titus Country School in rural Letcher. On January 19, 1942 he married Frances Barbara Higgins. They lived and farmed in Letcher. The couple celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1992. Paul was a full time farmer. He was a long time member of the Sanborn County Weed Board where he served as president and Butler Township Board. Paul was a member of St Scholastica Catholic Church of Letcher and Holy Spirit Catholic Church of Mitchell. He is survived by 7 children: Edward VanOverschelde, Minneapolis, MN; Paul VanOverschelde and his wife, Phyllis of Abilene, KS, Gary VanOverschelde and his wife, Shirley of Rogers, AR, Dennis VanOverschelde and his wife, Linda of Salem, SD, Rodney VanOverschelde and his wife, Connie of Letcher SD, Barbara Herring and her husband, James of Jefferson City, MO, David VanOverschelde and his wife, Kay of Overland Park, KS; 14 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; a brother, Leonard VanOverschelde and his wife, Mary, Letcher, SD. He was preceded in death by his wife Frances on June 1, 2001 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 209 East 4th Ave. Mitchell SD
