Paul Edward Everson was born February 9, 1919 in Mitchell, SD to Elmer L. and Jennie A. (Parker) Everson. His father passed away when Paul was 5 years old and he and his brothers, Carl and DeLos, were raised by their mother. They lived on a farm with his Grandpa Parker whom he dearly loved. Paul had few memories of his father and often commented how much he missed having his father while growing up . He graduated from Mitchell High School, continued helping his Grandpa Parker with the farm, and helped his mother who baked and sold cakes. Paul would help her bake each morning, then take her and the cakes to Mitchell where she rented a storefront from which she sold them. On February 10, 1945 he and Margaret Schroeder went to Huron and were married in the park. They recently celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Paul and Margaret farmed until 1969 when they moved to Mitchell. They later moved to Yankton and ran a gas station. He worked for Cimpl's in Yankton and then they moved to Vermillion where he retired from Sioux Tools at age 65. After retiring he spent a lot of time helping his children and spending time with his grandchildren, all of whom have many wonderful memories of times spent with Paul and Margaret. Paul was a member of Congregational UCC and the Moose Lodge. Grateful for sharing his life are his wife Margaret, son Verle (Carol) Everson of White Lake, SD, daughters Velda (Daryl) Kilstrom and Linda Perkins of Mitchell, SD, son Rodney (Kay) Everson of Rapid City, SD and son John Everson of Texas; twelve grandchildren; twenty seven great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents, great-granddaughter Emily Everson, brothers Carl and DeLos Everson.
